Wenjian (Alex) Zhao

Research interest: Smart Manufacturing, Robotics and Autonomy, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering Education

Bio: Alex is a second-year graduate student in MIT Mechanical Engineering, pursuing an M.Eng. degree in the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Program. He earned his B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He developed his automotive engineering skills through the Formula SAE team at UIUC and completed multiple internships at Tesla, working in product engineering and vehicle dynamics. At MIT, his research focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into smart manufacturing systems.

Outside the lab, he is an active member of MIT sailing, where he volunteers in teaching and workdays.
